Morris Down To Two

Christian Morris out of Memphis East was not expecting the recruiting road to take another u-turn but that is exactly what happened after visiting Ole Miss over the weekend.

"I did not know it was going to be like that," Christian Morris said about the Ole Miss visit over the weekend. "Honestly I thought it would be kind of boring but it was not that way at all. It was just the opposite."

The nation's #20 rated tackle had many positives to say about the visit.

"First, it is just so close to home. It is only an hour from my house. That gives me an opportunity to go back and forth from home if I need to. But mainly I got a chance to develop a better relationship with coach (Matt) Luke as well as coaches (Maurice) Harris and (Hugh) Freeze but mainly coach Luke because I already knew coaches Harris and Freeze really well. Coach Luke would be my position coach so I needed to see what it would be liked to play under him. We just kind of clicked."

Morris' personality also matches the Ole Miss environment.

"I am a real laid back type of dude and Oxford is a real laid back town. Everyone is just real laid back and real friendly down there."

One card that the Rebs hold over the competition is the fact that three of his teammates are going to play at Ole Miss next fall.

"Having Marcus Robinson, Herbert Moore, and Bobby Billingsley going to Ole Miss is big. We have always wanted to kind of play together in college. And me and Bobby have just built a bond on the field. He's the center and I am the tackle. We work great together. Maybe it works out for us to all keep playing together. I just do not know yet. I have a lot to think about."

Two Army All-American's got a chance to reunite in Oxford on the visit.

"Austin Golson was also there this weekend. We get a long real well in San Antonio. We worked well together down there. He's real laid back too. It's good knowing he is going there too."

UCLA and Tennessee were thought to be the two finalist but it looks another SEC school bumped the Vols.

"It is down to UCLA and Ole Miss. My grandparents live in LA so I would have some family over there too. I am real close with their coaching staff too. They have been there with me from the start. Ole Miss has too though. I do not know. It is going to be a real hard decision. I am just going to look at which school gives me an opportunity to get to the NFL and play early."

Where can get get on the field the quickest?

"Both schools need offensive tackles on the right and the left side."

What about the NFL factor?

"Coach Luke (OM) talked to me and Bobby about that yesterday. He said you play against the best defensive linemen in the SEC every week. In the PAC 10 you might face a few good ones but not on a consistent basis like the SEC. That is what helps you get to the next level. You have to play against the top talent to get you best prepared. Coach (Adrian) Klemm for UCLA is also a great coach. We are real cool. I know he can help prepare me to get to the league too. Like I said, I have a lot of thinking to do. I will announce 9:00 am Wednesday at Memphis East."
