After being committed to North Carolina for nearly a year, Korrin Wiggins flipped to Clemson on Signing Day.
Wiggins said he was happy that the recruiting process was over and excited to be a Tiger.
"It felt good," said Wiggins. "It was a relief because it's been very crazy these past few weeks. It also takes a burden off my parents' shoulders because they don't have to pay for me to go to school."
"I'm very excited. Clemson's a Top 10 program and I just want to help them be the best program."
The choice was not easy.
"It was really hard because I had been committed to UNC for a while," he said. "It was hard for me to leave those guys, but I have nothing but love for UNC. I respect everything about the program and wish them the best."
The Hillside star made his mind up this morning, but did not talk to the Clemson coaching staff until after his announcement.
"I let them know after I did it," he said. "I talked to Coach (Robbie) Caldwell and they were all jacked up. I guess they had heard about it when I signed because they already knew."
Clemson's coaches played a pivotal role in Wiggins' decision.
"The Clemson staff was real big on faith and that was one thing I really liked about them," Wiggins said. "I feel like with them being big on faith, most people like that are very genuine, so I could believe what they were saying. That sold me."
"Coach (Dabo) Swinney has the program going in a great direction. He's turned it around. He's done some great things in the conference and they had a big win in their bowl game against LSU. He definitely has it going in the right direction and I like how he operates."
What are the Tigers getting with Wiggins?
"Just a guy that's going to come in and work, that's loyal to the team, accountable, and someone that is going to be a leader," he said.
Wiggins is a three-star prospect and the 52nd-ranked safety in the country.
