It was a week after signing day but better late than never for Surprise (Az.) Valley Vista safety Myles Spearman.
Valley Vista head coach Josh Sekoch tells FoxSportsNext that Spearman received a late scholarship offer and has committed. He says, "Myles took a visit to Western Illinois this past weekend and was offered and took the offer. He will sign the scholarship papers this week. He is the first Valley Vista football player to sign with a division-one program."
Spearman (5-10 190) made 90 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 INTs as a senior in 2012.
Sekoch comments on Spearman, "As a player, Myles never took anything for granted. For three straight years he had over 90 tackles but he practiced everyday like he had to keep his spot, I'm not sure he ever missed a practice. He is the best tackler I have ever coached. As a kid, Myles is also one of the top students in his class. He values his faith, is very quiet, however he is the most confident player I have ever coached. He doesn't say much, in fact, he rarely talked our first two years but this year he became more vocal and our defense improved a lot."
