FB Austin (TX) running back Vic Enwere is a busy man these days with track season and a few junior days, but Enwere is primarily focused on getting to SMU this weekend.
"Being able to see if I'm comfortable there and being able to compare it to other schools to see where I fit best," Enwere said of what he's looking for.
Enwere holds offers from SMU and Rice, but he said Colorado is also going to offer once he ‘calls and works out the details.' Enwere is up in the air as to where he will be going next, but he received invites to Oklahoma State's junior day and a few others.
At SMU's junior day, Enwere will be able to meet with his recruiting coach and running backs coach Wes Suan, who offered him last year. Enwere will be traveling with his parents and they too are excited about seeing SMU.
"They like it. It's a private school and they're all about that," Enwere said. "We're a family that's big on education so that helps."
Standing 6-foot-1, 208-pounds with 4.46 speed, Enwere was able to rush for 1,500 yards and 17 touchdowns during his junior season and was named 23-5A Offensive MVP.
"I have learned to fundamentally good at everything and extend that higher. It has really paid off for me," Enwere said. "I can pass block, run block, run the football and I'm even good at reading fronts and reading linebackers. It helps me a lot finding holes."
Enwere hopes that his skill set would benefit him in a spread attack in college. In high school, Enwere has enjoyed playing in a spread offense and really wouldn't mind the pass-heavy offense of SMU.
"The spread attack really opens up the running game a lot. Some people don't understand that, but it really does," he said. "Being a passing team, if you're good and you can push forward, there's no one that will not give you the ball."
Enwere looks up to SMU running back Zach Line and sees being able to be successful is possible. If Enwere were to come to SMU, he will be working to emulate Line's success with a simple philosophy.
"Sometimes you have to buy your carries."
