Linebacker High On Tigers After Visit

2014 linebacker prospect Detric Dukes discusses his visit to Auburn after getting an offer from the Tigers last week.

Tucker, Ga.—A linebacker that got an offer from the Auburn Tigers last week, physical Detric Dukes was out of school on Monday for President's Day and took the opportunity to make a visit to check out Gus Malzahn's program along with several teammates including talented defensive tackle Elisha Shaw.

Making his second visit to the Plains, the 6-0, 220 Dukes says he enjoyed the trip and having the opportunity to sit down with the coaching staff.

"It was a great experience," Dukes says. "I have been over there once. Every time I go over there I like it more and more. It feels more like home.

"I talked to Coach (Rodney) Garner and Coach (Dameyune) Craig and Coach Malzahn," he adds. "It was just a great experience."

There is no question that linebacker recruiting is one of the focal points for the Tigers in the 2014 class. With need at both linebacker spots, Dukes says he got the chance to sit down and talk football with the staff and learn more about how they want to play defense.

"It was great," Dukes says. "They explained everything to me about the scheme and what position I would be playing. It really felt like they were into me and they really liked how I play."

Planning to visit Vanderbilt on Friday and Louisville on Saturday, Dukes says he plans to visit Auburn again next month when the Tigers begin spring football practice.
