Fight in Baylor Key for Pullom

FOX Sports NEXT caught up with Baylor safety commit Alfred Pullom. He spoke on why he signed with the Bears and what he is expecting once he gets there.

For Houston (TX) Cy Woods safety Alfred Pullom things did not go quite as well as he would have liked. Going into the 2012 season, his team was ranked in the area and all signs pointed to the idea that they would be in post season play.

That did not happen.

"This past season was a tough one. We had new coaches so we had a whole new system," Pullom said. "Some people got hurt so we had to fill in some places and it was a tough one to swallow."

Cy Woods, in an unexpected set of circumstances, did not advance and earn a post season berth after several earlier years of success. But in no way does Pullom leave the field with his head down. He said that he felt they battled and fought. But in the end, things just didn't work out.

Now it is time to move on and the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Pullom has plenty of optimism as he gets ready for his new start at Baylor, the team that he signed his letter of intent to a couple weeks ago.

And while there were a number of factors that played into the final decision, one stuck out as he watched his future team all the way up until the Holiday Bowl against UCLA.

"Just the fight they have in them. It doesn't matter how much they are down or even if they are up, they will not stop delivering the blows," Pullom said. "And they just finish strong every down, every play."

Pullom, who averaged eight tackles a game and finished his senior season with three interceptions, will look to bring more of that to Waco, TX.

"It looks like the coaches will be keeping me safety and put a couple of pounds on me. I'm sure if I will redshirt or play right now," Pullom said. "I think I may be redshirting, but all of the safeties are seniors except for one. Hopefully I will get my shot."
