Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive end Malik Dorton attended UCLA's Junior Day two weekends ago and enjoyed what he saw.
"It was pretty cool," Dorton said. "It was a really nice experience. I really enjoyed talking with the coaches at UCLA. I've talked to pretty much every coach at UCLA, and built a good relationship with them."
Dorton's main recruiter has been running backs coach Steve Broussard, who Dorton calls "a cool guy."
Dorton had talked in November about possibly committing early to UCLA when the Bruins offered in the fall, and didn't back too far off that statement when asked.
"I am thinking about committing somewhere in the next couple of weeks," Dorton said. "I'm not sure yet, but it could happen pretty soon."
Dorton said that California and Colorado are both close to offering, which would add them to the list that includes Oregon State, Utah, Utah State, Arizona State, and UCLA.
In UCLA's 3-4 scheme, Dorton said that the Bruins have talked with him about playing all over the defense.
"I think they like me at both defensive end and outside linebacker," Dorton said. "I can play all over, and I think they would just throw me into different looks depending on the situation."
Dorton plans to attend USC's Junior Day this weekend.
