ATH George Campbell Profile
Earlier this month, East Lake High School [Tarpon Springs, Fla.] athlete George Campbell made the trip up to Clemson for the Tigers' first Junior Day of the year.
"It was great. It was a great overall trip. I enjoyed it with Artavis Scott and Mason Cole," Campbell recently told CUTigers.
He added, "It was my first time in Clemson, but the whole school stood out to me."
Clemson offered Campbell while running backs coach Tony Elliott was by East Lake in January. The Tigers' coaches made sure Campbell knew he had the offer before he finished the Junior Day visit.
"Basically, we were just sitting there talking and they were like, ‘We'd love to have the three of your up as a package deal,'" Campbell said. "[Elliott] was just like, ‘I hope you know we've offered you. We offered when we came down to the school.' I was like, ‘OK, that's good.'"
Clemson sees Campbell as a wide receiver. Others like him as a safety or an athlete.
"A lot of them say I could change over time, because I still have a year, so I don't really know yet," he said.
Does he a have a preference for one specific position?
"Not really, because I'm a team player."
Campbell, who has over 10 offers, already has an impressive list of options, including Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State.
"I'm leaving all my options open, because I know a lot can change over two years. So I'm basically considering every school," he said.
As a sophomore, Campbell caught 30 passes for 766 yards and five touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, he had 56 tackles, six tackles for loss and an interception.
