Danville's Trent Sherfield is a multi-talented 6'2, 175-lb prospect who was recently offered by the Indiana Hoosiers.
"That's my second one," he said. "The first one was from Illinois State. I've been down to IU. I went down there for the first junior day a couple weeks ago. The offensive coordinator told me to call and said he had good news for me, then he said they're going to offer me and they want guys like me in the program."
The visit allowed him to see what the campus and coaches are like at Indiana.
"Everything down there was beautiful. The campus is beautiful, close to home, not that far away, and the coaches are very welcoming. I like the facilities and I like how they handle academics too and graduate players."
Sherfield was his team's quarterback, but has made his mark this offseason playing defensive back, where he has stood out at the last two Core 6 Showcases. Hence, he is being recruited at a number of positions.
"Indiana actually told me to come to the one day camp. They want to look at me to play defense, but the offensive coordinator wants me to come down there to throw for him. They don't know what they want to play. Really, it doesn't matter to me. I just want to go out there and compete."
As for other schools that are interested, Sherfield says, "Cincinnati, just recently Ohio State, Nebraska, Oregon, couple letters from Alabama. I'm going to Cincinnati on the 2nd for their junior day, Indiana for their spring practices and I'm going up to Illinois for junior day spring ball as well."
