Ken Niumatalolo returned the Navy football program to its winning ways after a disappointing 2012 season. In 2012 Navy returned the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy back to Annapolis after a two year absence. Navy's football staff has added a number of talented recruits during the recent signing day. GoMids.com will now take a look at the projected offensive players so far from the Mids' 2012 football recruiting class.
At quarterback Troy Thompson II (6-0, 190) was a two year starter at Hillgrove high school in Georgia. The dual threat quarterback with 4.52 speed in the forty-yard dash produced a combined 24 touchdowns passing and rushing. Thompson earned honorable mention All-County honors. Thompson had offers from Harvard and Yale in addition to Navy. Georgia Tech showed late interest prior to his commitment. This was Thompson's first year as the starting signal caller for the Hawks after sitting out most of his junior season with an injury and he made the most of it.
Travis Marshall (6-3, 205) is a quick, lanky quarterback from Georgia's Chattahoochee high school who committed last summer. Marshall played in a spread passing offense and chose Navy over an offer from Wofford.
Jerry Thompson is an athletic six-foot, 190 pounds quarterback/safety from White Station high school in Tennessee. Thompson, who ran a Wing-T attack, committed late in January.
Eric Watson (5-11, 205) is another quarterback recruit from Atascocita high school in Texas. Watson is a very physical runner with decent speed.
