TCU Hosts Houston Area Lineman

Did TCU offer the big lineman out of Clear Lake High School in Houston, TX? At 6'6" and 325 pounds, Blake Blackmar casts a long shadow and the mammoth prospect was in town to see how well he fit in with the Horned Frogs.

The TCU Horned Frogs hosted a number of top targets on Sunday as they continue to hone in on the prospects at the top of their list. With an impressive group of offensive linemen in attendance, the Frogs made their best pitch to each player and HornedFrogBlitz.com spoke with one of them tonight to get his thoughts on the visit.

Blake Blackmar, of Houston Clear Lake, was one of the players in Ft. Worth today and he gave his account of the trip. What did the 6'6" 325 pound tackle prospect have to say about TCU?

"I got up early, drove up and had a good time" said Blackmar. "I liked Coach Williamson and Coach Patterson and I got to meet some of the players. It was good, I liked it."

With an offer on the table from Baylor, Blackmar mentioned that another school had just extended an offer his way; Kansas State. With two Big 12 offers now available, Blackmar went to see how he would fit at TCU and to see what the Horned Frogs had to offer.

"It was me and four other linemen on the visit, and one of them, Connor Mayes, left early" he said. "After he left, the other guys and I went in to Coach Patterson's office to talk and he basically told us that they've only got so many offers to give out this year and that two or three of them will be for offensive linemen."

"They said the four of us were really the first ones that they had brought in and talked to really seriously and they told us they were going to take it real slow" said Blackmar. "They told us they were probably going to wait until a one day camp, or something like that to offer us."

So was the hulking lineman discouraged that he didn't receive an offer while in town?

"It's not frustrating at all" he said. "I didn't go just to get an offer; I went there to evaluate the school and to see if I would want to go to school there."

"I had a really good experience, they're a very good team and they've got long tenured coaches" said the Houston area product. "They have tons of coaching experience and that was big for me."

With a chance to tour TCU and see everything the Frogs had to offer, Blackmar explained what he felt while at TCU and what he wants most in a program.

"I like the way the program is going, it had that feel when you walked in there like you're going to be part of something special(If he were to commit)."

"I'm looking for a school with a good strength program and academics are very important to me, and I like schools with a winning tradition."

Blackmar says while an offer from TCU would be really nice, he said that he would probably wait a while to commit.

"I'll probably wait it out a little while and lean towards taking all of my official visits before I commit anywhere."

With TCU targeting the big prospect, HornedFrogBlitz.com will keep up with Blackmar to see if the Frogs extend an offer in the near future. Stay logged on!
