"I was at their practice Saturday," Isom said, "and C.J. (Johnson) called me over and asked if I liked Tulane. When I told him I did, he offered on the spot.
"Man, I felt very excited. It was truly a blessing to receive an offer and hear the words come out of his mouth. I want to thank Tulane for seeing my potential to play at the next level."
Green Wave quarterbacks coach Mike Neu spent quality time Saturday with Isom.
"Coach Neu and C.J. like how I sling the ball," Isom said.
The 6-5, 235-pound signal-caller discussed his reaction to the offer.
"I told C.J., 'thank you so much,'" he said. "It was truly a blessing to get that. My mom was very excited, too. It was so unexpected; I didn't know it was going to happen.
"Tulane is a great academic school. They have a great law school and psychology department. That's what I want to major in: psychology. Football-wise, I believe it'll be turned around at Tulane soon."
Several more schools are in pursuit of Isom.
"I'm really hearing a lot from Missouri," he said. "They really like me a lot. Houston, Louisiana Tech and Nebraska are interested and I heard something from Miami, which is a new school with interest.
"Cincinnati, UL and Houston all invited me to their junior days. I'm going to Cincinnati this summer. They want to see me throw live. A lot of schools, including Miami and Houston, are coming this spring."
Isom recently put his athleticism on display at the New Orleans Nike SPARQ Combine.
"I had a top 25 rating out of over 900 players," he said. "I was the only quarterback on the board (with a top 25 rating)."
Tulane also offered Isom's teammate, hard-hitting outside linebacker Rae Juan Marbley.
