Army Signing Day Recap: OL and KICKER
Army's top ranked recruit so far is Scout.com three-star offensive guard Patrick Joseph. Joseph (6-3, 290) was a right tackle last year for Hamilton high school in Arizona but will likely play inside for the Black Knights. Joseph was ranked as the fifth best offensive lineman in Arizona. Joe Tustin is another big 6-2, 295 pound guard from St. Anthony's high school in Long Island, New York. St. Anthony's is the small school that produced former Army football captain Frank Scappaticci and current Army JV linebacker Tyler McLees. Derrick Stom (6-2, 275) is an interior offensive lineman from Las Lomas high school in Walnut Creek, California. Stom played on both sides of the ball. As a senior he was named first team All-league and to the California State All-Star team. The Black Knights signed Stom's Las Lomas High School teammate, kicker Mitchell Howard. He hit 34 of 35 extra points and 9-of-11 field goal attempts last year. Howard recorded touchbacks on 65 percent of his kickoffs. Howard captained his high school's soccer team and served as varsity kicker the last two years. Chris Sailer who runs kicking camps spoke about Howard. "He [Howard] has a strong left leg and kicks with excellent technique and consistency," said Sailor. "Kickoffs are also near the top of his class." As always this list will not be complete until R-Day. In our next segment ArmySports.com will look at the Black Knight's 2013 defensive recruits that plan to join the program.
