"I was at home watching TV when 'Coach Robe' called and told me I had my first offer from Tulane," Marbley said. "It feels nice to get that first one.
"When I went to practice earlier that afternoon, Donovan (Isom) and I were talking and I said, 'I can't wait to get my first offer.' Then I got it 10 minutes later."
Marbley and Isom attended Tulane's Saturday practice.
"C.J. told me Saturday about my film," said Marbley, who shared in the joy as Isom nabbed a Green Wave offer at the practice session. "C.J. likes my film and how I play with a non-stop motor.
"I'm a pretty aggressive kid and it's nice to hear those compliments from college coaches."
Marbley is enthused by the progress at Tulane during Johnson's two-year tenure.
"Tulane is a great school," he said. "C.J. works hard."
Marbley led Destrehan in tackles (101) last year. He also recorded 10 1/2 sacks thanks to a lighting-fast first-step when blitzing off the edge.
"I recovered three or four fumbles with one interception," he added.
What's next on the agenda?
"I don't have any specific plans for visits to schools, junior days or camps," Marbley said. "I'm going to talk to my parents about that.
"Donovan and I got invited to the Nike Football Training Camp in April, and we'll be going."
He named a group of programs that are showing steady interest.
On film Marbley plays much bigger than his listed size. He's an intelligent and physically-gifted linebacker who should continue to thrive in the future.
