Sleeper San Diego LB has three early offers

When former Lakewood (Calif.) coach Thadd MacNeal left the program to take over at Carlsbad (Calif.) last year, you knew it was only a matter of time before the Lancers produced some high quality Div I prospects and that's exactly what they have in linebacker Jordan Perez.

Jordan Perez played all over the field for the lancers a year ago including linebacker, tight end, fullback, receiver and safety but definitely projects best at the linebacker position. At 6-2, 220 pounds, he has a solid frame, runs well and hits like a truck.

The athlete earned 1st team all-league honors on both sides of the ball and 2nd team all-county honors at linebacker. He's currently sitting on three early scholarship offers and is hearing from programs all over the region.

"BYU, Oregon State and Utah have offered me so far," Perez said. "I'm also hearing from Colorado, Colorado State, UCLA, Washington and Washington State. I don't have any visits set up right now but I would love to camp with Colorado, Stanford, UCLA and USC this summer.

"I think the biggest factors in my decision will be the opportunity to play for a national title, and a place where I can get a great education. I want to major in engineering so academics are definitely very important to me."

As for when he would like to make his decision, Perez said he's pretty flexible there.

"On one hand, I would like to take all five of my trips and go through the process," Perez said. "At the same time, if the right offer comes along or if I take a visit and just fall in love with a school, I'll go ahead and commit early. I'm just going to play it out and see what happens."
