WKU Recruiting Notebook: March 26

Read inside for the latest updates on several WKU basketball recruits, including one WKU target receiving an in-home visit soon.

Hawkins eyeing Kentucky offer

6-foot-1 point guard Dominique Hawkins' recruitment has picked up since leading Madison Central HS to the KHSAA state championship early in March.

The senior reports offers from Western Kentucky, Purdue, South Carolina, Morehead State and Tennessee Tech.

Today, Hawkins received a visit from Kentucky head coach John Calipari, who's showing interest in the senior since the state tournament run.

I talked briefly to Hawkins via text message, asking him how the meeting with Calipari went and if there was an update on a potential offer.

"I know Friday I'll let you know what happens," he said.

Friday coincides with the announcement of Kentucky's Mr. Basketball award--Hawkins is one of five finalists in consideration for the honor.

Goodwin to receive in-home visit

Norcross (Ga.) HS point guard Brandon Goodwin is scheduled to receive an in-home visit from WKU head coach Ray Harper tomorrow, March 27.

Goodwin, recently named Georgia's AAAAAA Player of the Year, reports offers from WKU, Auburn, Murray State, Central Florida, Tennessee Tech and Houston, with Mississippi also showing interest.

The 6-foot point guard averaged 15.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game his senior season for Norcross, leading them to Georgia's AAAAAA state championship.
