Walton having excellent spring
It was only an average high school season for Brownsburg (Ind) guard K.J. Walton. The 6-foot-3 scorer however has really turned things up during the AAU season. Walton once again had a huge weekend at the Spiece Run N Slam, and now has a scholarship offer on the table. According to Walton he feels the improvement this spring from the high school season is simply due to consistency. "It is my consistency and my mindset going into the games," Walton explained. "I am just attacking my opponents and not waiting until it is too late to try and really play." Recruiting wise coaches are beginning to really notice his play, and Walton recently picked up his first big scholarship offer. "I got an offer from Xavier, and then it is just the main schools like Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, and schools like that," said Walton. The offer from Xavier came last week, and Walton was happy to get it. "It was a relief," said Walton of the offer. "A lot of hard work was put in to that, I was proud." While Xavier has offered, Purdue has also shown Walton a lot of attention since before he even enrolled in high school, and he says it is good to be hearing from the Boilermakers. "It is close to home and that is definitely big to me," said Walton of Purdue. "Purdue is a great program with a great coach." For now Walton is simply trying to grow and improve on what has already been an impressive spring, and says he is working specifically on one part of his game to continue to get better. "I am working on everything, but the biggest thing is my ball handling," said Walton.
