Scouting report: Nelson switched between left and right tackle during the three-day event, and performed with mixed results. He was comfortable with the bull rush and showed very good strength and an ability to keep a strong base and move his feet.
When defensive linemen tried to move inside, Nelson occasionally reached but he did a good job of sliding his feet and cutting off the inside rush.
However, as the event wore on, more and more defensive ends tried to get around the corner on Nelson, and again it was a mix of success and struggles.
Several times Nelson was able to get a good push on the outside and send the rusher either to the ground or push him behind the quarterback, but there were a fair number of rushers who were able to get around the corner and get to the quarterback with relative easy.

What was learned: Nelson was originally rated as a guard, but his projected position was changed to tackle after a strong junior season at the position. He will remain there, but at this point the thinking is he will be a right tackle and it should not be a surprise if he moves inside and plays guard in college. His burst, strength and ability to pull would make him a very good guard.
