Settles Accepting New Role

Deonte Settles put up big numbers last year at Canton South, and the 2014 slot receiver was the top option for the Wildcats. Following a transfer to Canton McKinley, Settles knows he won't be the primary option for the Bulldogs.

Last year as a junior at Canton South, Deonte Settles impressed as both a runner and pass receiver, totally over 1,000 yards from scrimmage.

Following a transfer to Canton McKinley, Settles is ready to take on a lesser role, as the Bulldogs are led by top 2015 prospect Eric Glover-Williams offensively.

"I'm looking forward to using my speed in this offense, and helping to the pressure off Eric," Settles stated. "I was timed at a 4.3 forty at Ohio State a few weeks ago, so I can run with anyone. My role will be as a slot receiver, and I'm willing to do what they need to help the team."

"I was a runningback with Canton South last year, but I caught the football out of the backfield," he added. "I can make people miss and take the ball to the house. I'm working on understanding the offense completely."

Although he holds no offers yet, Settles is drawing recruiting interest.

"I'm hearing from Illinois, Cincinnati, Tennessee, and all of the MAC schools," he explained. "Nobody has offered yet, but they tell me I have to prove what I can do as a slot receiver this year, and they're looking for my first three games on film. Kent State is sticking out to me, because I play baseball also."
