ATH Johnathan Sutton Profile
The first trip of the summer was the Dabo Swinney Football Camp in Clemson, where he worked out with linebackers coach Brent Venables.
Sutton also camped at N.C. State as a linebacker, but he went to Florida State's and worked at running back.
South Carolina will work him out as a linebacker on Friday during the Black Magic Camp.
The 6-foot-1, 218-pound athlete recently spoke with CUTigers about his summer trips.
Clemson: It was a good experience, because it was my first camp ever going to. It was different. There was a lot of stuff to learn.
About Venables, Sutton said, "He's a great coach. He's a physical coach. He likes everything to be physical."
N.C. State It was a good environment. It was basically some of the same stuff we do at my school. There coaches were basically the same as coach Venables. They were very violent and physical. That's the way they like to play, too.
Florida State I play running back, too, so I went through all of the running back drills. It was just a one-day camp, so I didn't get to do a lot. But it was pretty fun, because they see me as an athlete.
Sutton isn't sure which position he would prefer to play on the next level. He's played on both side of the ball since he was 8-years-old.
"I would like to play both, but I know you can't play both in college, so I'll probably have to make my decision on which one I'm going to play," he said.
With close to 10 offers, including Clemson, Florida State, UNC, N.C. State, South Carolina and UCLA, Sutton has no list of favorites.
"I'm just still worried about playing football and just keep getting offers. My senior year, I'll make my decision," he said.
Two factors will be considered.
"Education and how I fit in with the team," Sutton said.
