Thursday morning, galloping superstar California Chrome (he of Kentucky Derby fame) coughed a few times after his morning work out and people freaked the freak out.
His trainers ordered blood work immediately, which happily came back clear. However, a small blister was discovered on CC's throat, which we assume he got trying to talk over the thumping DJ music at his Derby win after party.
Despite concerns that this might be the signs of a brewing cold, trainer Alan Sherman assured reporters (and bettors) that California Chrome is just fine. "He had [the blister] going into the Derby and it went away. After he ran in there, it came back a little, but it's not a big deal at all."
Perhaps CC should try clearing his throat with a Black-Eyed Susan, the official drink of The Preakness? Learn how to make one for yourself, compliments of Preakness.com.
