A lot of noteworthy news came out of Comic-Con 2014: The release date for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has already been set for July 28, 2017, fans of The Walking Dead finally got a look at the upcoming Season 5, and somewhere, among those hallowed halls in San Diego, a cosplay nerd totally hooked up. But honestly, the only thing that mattered from this year's Comic-Con was that the trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road debuted and it is so goddamn awesome.
The upcoming fourth installment of the Mad Max franchise—starring Tom Hardy (taking over Mel Gibson's iconic role as the Road Warrior himself, Mad Mad Rockatansky), an especially badass Charlize Theron (shaved head and all), Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, and Nicholas Hoult—doesn't come out until May 15, 2015, which honestly can't get here soon enough.
With Mad Max trilogy director George Miller back at the helm, you know it's in the right hands. It looks the dirty, gritty, blood-soaked, batshit crazy apocalyptic landscape we came to know and love in the '80s, but somehow it looks even better this time around. If the trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road doesn't rev your engines (namely, the Pursuit Special), we don't know what to tell you, because this is already the best trailer of the year for what's bound to be the most off-the-walls awesome movie of next year. Guns, cars, girls, and Bane as Mad Max? They didn't need to make an action-packed trailer for this, because honestly it sells itself, but you'll still be damn glad they did. Watch.
