SchoolSports Joins TheInsiders

Posted Feb 4, 2004

TheInsiders and School Sports have teamed up to create a HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PORTAL combining the high school sports content from SchoolSports, the nation’s largest high school sports magazine and content provider, and TheInsiders’ network of affiliate Web sites with the most in-depth local high school sports coverage on a state-by-state basis.

SEATTLE, Feb. 4 - TheInsiders.com has partnered with School Sports, the largest and most recognized high school sports media company in the nation, with 650,000 print circulation and readership of 2.5 million teens per issue (including multiple regional additions) and 100,000 online registered users, to create the most powerful high school sports portal in America.

TheInsiders will combine content from School Sports, including their significant staff in Boston and more than 30 writers and photographers in 30 major markets, with our state-specific site publishers. School Sports is known industry-wide for its photography of high school athletes.

Not only is School Sports offering its significant brand, marketing reach and content to TheInsiders high school subscription offering, they also are offering a full-year subscription to their print publication to be combined for free with the network's annual high school online subscriptions.

"The end game is a one-stop destination with more high school sports news, profiles, team rankings, recruit listings and special features than you could imagine," said TheInsiders CEO Jim Heckman. "Whether you are a high school athlete, a college recruiter or simply a fan of high school sports, this portal was made for you.

"Their previous Web site, which now has moved into our network, built their incredible brand power and accumulated their registered user base when they were the official and exclusive high school sports provider AOL, ESPN.com, Alloy.com and CitySearch.com. Our network will get the benefit of this significant brand and reach, in addition to their outstanding print reach."

TheInsiders' managing editor, Glenn Nelson, said, "The addition of School Sports is another big step forward in our vision and philosophy of tracking athletes from high school through the professional ranks and providing our users with living biographies on their favorite athletes. This means the network as a whole benefits from this important content addition."
