Big Weekend on the West
for Major Commitments
Ohaeri is a Bruin
Ohaeri is a Bruin

Several top players on the West Coast made commitments over the weekend including a pair of top 100 selections and a top five JUCO recruit. Here's a recap.

As expected, Washington picked up a huge commitment from one of the nation's finest offensive lineman as Nathan Rhodes , 6-7, 302 pounds from East Bakersfield chose the Dawgs over Tennessee. Rhodes also tripped to UCLA and considered Michigan and Nebraska as well.

Ironically, Washington was the last school Rhodes put into his top five choosing to trip to Seattle over LSU. While on the visit, he was blown away and quickly moved the Dawgs up to the top spot on his list.

"It was a tough decision for me, but Washington just had a few more plusses in their favor," Rhodes said. "I'm excited about the future of the Husky program and want to go and win a National Championship."

Arizona State landed Randy Hill , a 6-2, 191 pound running back from Tempe (Ariz.) McClintock. Hill has been a long time Sun Devil lean and committed to ASU over Missouri, Washington, Washington State, Colorado State and USC.

Hill is one of the nation's premier power backs but at the NIKE Camp in SoCal, it was his 4.45 time in the 40 that opened up everyone's eyes. On the year, Hill had a monster season rushing for 2,347 yards on 238 carries and 36 total touchdowns. He joins his teammate Andre Bailey who had earlier committed to the Sun Devils.

UCLA landed a pair of commitments in JUCO defensive tackle Ryan Boschetti , 6-4, 285 pounds from San Mateo (Calif.) and running back Glen Ohaeri , 5-9, 190 pounds from San Bernardino (Calif.) Aquinas.

Boschetti is rated the #2 Junior College football player in the country according to JCFootball.com and because he'll enroll in the Spring, will count on last year's scholarship total.

Ohaeri is a Student Sports Hot 100 selection and currently ranks as the #3 running back on the West Coast by PacWest. Ohaeri runs like a player twice his size and went over the 2,000 yard mark for the second straight season.

Arizona has continued their strong recruiting haul picking up offensive lineman Elliot Vallejo , 6-6, 291 pounds from Salinas (Calif.) Palma. Vallejo was leaning big to Stanford early on before he was denied admission by the Cardinal. His focus soon moved to Washington but after visiting Arizona, Washington State and Washington, the Wildcats won out.

Vallejo had a monster senior season earning 1st team All-State honors by Cal-Hi Sports. He's big, tough and physical and loves to mix it up in the trenches. He plays with a serious mean streak and his combination of feet and balance could have him on the field early in his career.
