After a slow start, the '95 Nebraska squad, led by QB Tommie Frazier, scored 3 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to make the halftime score 28-10. Frazier then came out and put this game away early in the 3rd quarter with a 77-yard touchdown run. The Colorado defense had done a great job of containing Frazier up until that point. Frazier finished the game with 81 yards rushing on 12 carries (which included the 77-yarder) and completed 13 of 28 for 154 yards (1 TD, 1 INT).

The story of the game for Nebraska once again was the running game. Lawrence Phillips and Ahman Green ran right through the stingy Buffalo defense all game long. They combined for 159 yards on 43 carries and two scores. The Nebraska defense had a solid game as well.

Not much can be said for Colorado who jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on an Eric Bieniemy touchdown. Bieniemy never really got his running game going, rushing 32 times for only 73 yards. With the Buffs leading 10-7 early in the 2nd quarter things fell apart quickly. Poor defense, poor special teams, and a slowed offense doomed the Buffs.

After the 3 quick Nebraska touchdowns Colorado couldn’t get back into it. QB Darien Hagan had a rough day completing only 11 of 27 attempts for 177 yards and rushing for only 33 yards on 10 attempts. But what did in '90 Colorado team was their defense.

Despite sacking Tommie Frazier six times and intercepting him once, Nebraska ran all over the Buffaloes for a total of 243 yards on 55 carries and 3 scores.

Next up for the ’95 Cornhuskers will be the winner of the ’92 Alabama/’96 Florida game played on Tuesday. Will the Huskers get the tough defense from ‘Bama or the Danny Wuerffel led potent offense of Florida?
