The ’95 Cornhuskers dominated early as the Scout.com player of the game, Lawrence Phillips, ran all over all over the ’96 Gators defense. Phillips had three touchdown runs in the 1st quarter on runs of 55, 32, and 38 yards, Kris Brown added a 29-yard field goal to take a 24-0 lead as the game looked all Nebraska early.

Following the 1st quarter debacle, the Gator defense stepped it up and contained the Nebraska ground game for the remainder of the contest. A Fred Taylor 21-yard run in the 4th quarter closed the Nebraska lead to just three points. Nebraska answered with a field goal to push the lead back to 6, thats when Danny Wuerffel worked his magic and found Reidel Anthony for the game winning 27-yard TD.

Tommie Frazier attempted to lead the '95 Cornhuskers down the field one final time, however on 4th and 18 his pass sailed over the head of Lawerence Phillips and that was the end for Nebraska.

Phillips finished with a game high 240 yards on 31 carries and 3 scores, Ahman Green added 61 yards on 17 carries. QB Tommie Frazier had a decent passing day completing 15 of 25 for 220 yards and 1 score.

For the Gators Fred Taylor had 121 yards on a tournament high 39 carries. Danny Wuerffel finished the day 18 of 31 for 333 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

The '96 Gators now advance to the championship game of the Scout.com/WhatIfSports Tournament of Champions. They will face the winner of Thursday's '05 Texas/'91 Washington winner.
