Cal-Oregon State Series Notes
Cal leads the all-time series, 33-28, but Oregon State has won eight of the last 10 games between the teams, two in a row overall and four straight at Memorial Stadium. Calk's most recent victory in the series in Berkeley came on Nov. 1, 1997 (33-14).
The last time the clubs played at Cal on Oct. 13, 2007, the Bears were on the cusp of becoming the nation's No. 1 team before the clock ran out with Cal on the OSU 10-yard line for a 31-28 defeat. Last year, the Beavers were a 34-21 winner in Corvallis, where Cal prevailed in both 2004 (49-7) and '06 (41-13).

After dropping the first two games of its Pac-10 schedule at Oregon and vs. USC, the Bears are back to their winning ways with a current three-game victory streak. Cal dominated in triumphs at UCLA (45-26) and vs. Washington State (49-17) to start the run, and last Saturday pulled out a 23-21 win at Arizona State after Giorgio Tavecchio connected on a 24-yard field goal with 0:21 remaining to cap a 74-yard drive on the Bears' final possession.
The Golden Bears rank second in the Pac-10 and No. 18 nationally in scoring offense with an average of 33.63 points per game. Cal's lofty ranking comes despite a total of only six points in the back-to-back losses at Oregon and vs. USC. The Bears are averaging 43.8 points per contest in their six victories.
Big plays have been the story all season for Cal with 51 (33 passes, 18 rushes) going for at least 20 yards, 16 of which have been for touchdowns.
Oregon State, which won three of its four October games after dropping its final two contests of the previous month, is coming off a 26-19 home victory over UCLA in its most recent game last Saturday. The team's only October loss came at USC with a hard-fought 42-36 defeat at the hands of the Trojans, while OSU took down Stanford (38-28) and Arizona State (28-17) earlier in the month.
Oregon State features a pass offense that leads the Pac-10 and ranks No. 22 in the nation with an average of 272.13 yards per contest.
