Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle Sean Locklear practiced this week and is expected to be active on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
Seattle Seahawks
offensive tackle
Sean Locklear
completed a full week of practice and is expected to be active against the
Detroit Lions
on Sunday. Though Damien McIntosh is expected to start a second consecutive game at left tackle, Seahawks head coach Jim Mora likes that Locklear is on target to be active on Sunday.
"It's been a long time since Sean has played," Mora said after practice today. "It's nice to have him available."
Locklear suffered a high ankle sprain early in the second quarter of the Seahawks' 23-20 loss to the
San Francisco 49ers
in Week 2.
With future Hall of Fame tackle
Walter Jones
out since last November with a knee injury that's required multiple surgeries in the last 11 months, Locklear had worked on the left side throughout the OTAs, mini-camps, training camp, and preseason.
Since Locklear has been on the shelf, the Seahawks have used
Brandon Frye
,
Kyle Williams
, and McIntosh to protect Hasselbeck's blindside, with center/guard
Steve Vallos
designated as an emergency tackle last week against Dallas. So getting Locklear back this Sunday will be a huge boost to not only the Seahawks' depth on the offensive line, but to
Matt Hasselbeck
's psyche, as well.
