It doesn't matter what hardware is distributed yearly and what the so-called experts think. The facts speak for themselves. Boise State is now the most successful college football team since 1900. The recent news story which revealed that the top teams in the nation refuse to play Boise State now makes Boise State's achievements rock solid.

Boise State ’s 44-33 win over Nevada Friday night enabled the Broncos to set two more college football modern records.  They are now in the history books for wins in an eight-year period and most wins in a decade since 1900.  These are the second and third modern records to be eclipsed by Boise State , following last year’s mark for scoring in a decade.

Boise State is now 92-11 since 2002, breaking the nine-year-old mark set by Nebraska in 2000.  The famed Cornhusker teams from 1993-2000 won 91 games.

Heading into this year, USC held a two-win advantage over the Broncos with an 82-9 record.  However, the Trojans have lost three games this season (8-3 record) while Boise State is 12-0 to date.

No other school this year can catch the Broncos.  They have the record all to themselves.

Yale, with 106 wins from 1888-1895, and Pennsylvania , which won 105 games from 1891-1898 are the top two.  Given that those two teams played as many as 16 games in a season, they will not be caught in the foreseeable future.

Boise State also set the modern record for the most wins in a decade since 1900.  The Broncos have won 110 games since 2000, more wins than anyone in the country.  Coach Chris Petersen’s team toppled Florida State ’s teams of the 1990’s, which won 109.

Oklahoma can beat Florida State ’s total with one more win, but cannot catch Boise State .  Texas could tie the Broncos if they win both the Big 12 championship as well as their bowl game and if Boise State loses either to New Mexico State or their bowl game.

Pennsylvania holds the record with 124 wins in the 1890’s with Yale second in the same period (116 wins).

Boise State was 10-2 in 2000, 8-4 in 2001, 12-1 in 2002, 13-1 in 2003 and 11-1 in 2004.  After a disappointing 9-4 season in 2005, the Broncos returned with a vengeance in 2006, going 13-0 and winning the Fiesta Bowl.  They were 10-3 in 2007, 12-1 in 2008 and are 12-0 thus far this season.

Despite the fact that Boise State now owns the modern records, the Broncos have yet to be selected to play in a “national championship game”, unlike their counterparts from Lincoln and Tallahassee.  The Cornhuskers were the “#1 team” in 1994 and 1995 and were the Coaches’ #1 in 1997.  Florida State was the “national champions” in 1993 and 1999 and played Florida for the “national championship” in 1996.

In fact, the sham that has ignored Boise State ’s record of achievement stands out like a sore thumb on these two historic lists.

Yale was crowned national champions in 1888, 1891, 1892 and 1894 during their historic run.  Pennsylvania was the national champs in 1895 and 1897.  Oklahoma at #5 for most wins in an eight-year period was the national champions in 2000 and was allowed to play for the BCS “national championship” in 2004.  USC was crowned as the top team in 2003, were #1 in the Associated Press poll of 2004 and played in the BCS title game in 2005.  Harvard, which won 89 games from 1886-1893, was #1 in 1890.

Texas , despite having less wins than Boise State over this period, nonetheless was crowned national champions in 2005.

Miami of Florida, all the way back at #9 in wins, either was crowned the “mythical” national champions or played in the “national championship game” in 1983, 1986, 1987, 1989 and 1991.

Even Brigham Young, which has never beaten Boise State head-to-head, was crowned “national champions” in 1984.  The Cougars won 86 games in their historic run compared to 92 for Boise State the last eight years.

The teams are shown with their most number of wins in any period that overlapped.  No team can be listed for any years that overlap.
