“Jarvis has a great deal of experience playing in a 3-4 system and will bring veteran leadership to our team,” general manager Brian Xanders said. “We’re excited to add him to our roster.”
Green (6-foot-3, 285 pounds) is a ninth-year defensive lineman who played his first eight seasons with New England since being selected by the Patriots in the fourth round (126th overall) of the 2002 NFL Draft from Louisiana State University.
In all, he has totaled 325 tackles (197 solo), including 28 sacks (183 yds.), in 121 games (46 starts) with the Patriots. He has played at least 13 games in each of his previous eight seasons.
Last season, Green totaled 47 tackles (26 solo) in 13 games (12 starts) to help the Patriots win the AFC East.
Green, who helped the Patriots reach the postseason following six of his eight seasons in New England, has totaled 36 tackles (20 solo), including five sacks (26 yds.), in 15 playoff games (4 starts). In all, he has contributed to six division championships, three conference championships and two Super Bowl wins.
Green joins DT Justin Bannan as Denver's newest additions to their defensive line.
Veteran DL Mike Wright figures to replace Green in New England's defense for the time being.
