Manny Harris scored 20 second-half points to lead U-M to a one point lead with 2.2 seconds to go. But Evan Turner hit a loooong 3-pointer, a 30 footer, at the buzzer to win it for OSU.
U-M played half of the opening half with
Deshawn Sims
hot and Ohio State not.
With Sims scoring 12, U-M moved to a 19-10 lead at the 9:36 mark.
But U-M only scored 6 more the rest of the half (4 by Sims), and OSU used balanced scoring to catch, then move past the Wolverines at the 3 minute mark, then close with a rush to take a 35-25 lead into the half.
Sims scored 12 in the opening stanza for U-M, but Manny Harris was the next highest Wolverine scorer with just 4. U-M shot 45.8% for the half but went just 1-8 in three-pointers.
For OSU,
Evan Turner
had 9 points for the half -- and added 5 assists.
In the second stanza the spread was still 10 at the 15 minute mark, but Stu Douglass hit three consecutive three-pointer to close to 42-38.
But U-M went cold and OSU opened it to 13 at the 10:15 mark.
Then Manny Harris came to life, and U-M went on a 16-7 run. Harris hit a three plus 2 free throws and Zack Novak hit a layup to close to 51-45 at the 8:15 mark. Harris hit 2 more free throws and a layup, Novak making 2 free throws and Sims a layup, while OSU scored only a single bucket as U-M closed to 58-54 at the 5 minute mark.
After an OSU free throw, Harris hit a long three to inch even closer, 59-57 at the 4 minute mark.
OSU hit 2 free throws, then a jumper, and opened back up a 62-57 lead at the 2:30 mark.
U-M couldn't die, as Harris hit a free throw, then a three-pointer to make it 62-61 at the 1:30 mark.
Even Turner hit 2 free throws to make it 64-61, but Douglass answered with a long three to tie it 64-all at the minute mark.
OSU missed, and U-M got the ball at the 40 second mark. Harris hit a runner at the 25 second mark -- and Michigan took their first lead of the half, 66-64.
OSU's
David Lighty
hit a short bucket, and U-M got the ball, game tied 66-66, at the 9.7 second mark.
Harris hit a fall-away jumper at the 2.2 second mark -- Michigan 68, OSU 66.
But Evan Turner took the inbound pass, and dribbled up and hit a loooong 3-pointer, a 30 footer, at the buzzer to win it -- 69-68.
Manny Harris led the Wolverines with 24 points, 20 in the second half.
Deshawn Sims and Stu Douglass added each.
U-M shot 49% from the field, and 38.1% in three-pointers (8-21).
