Cleveland Browns, 2017 NFL Draft

For the second straight season, the Cleveland Browns will kickoff day 2 of the NFL Draft when they announce the 33rd overall selection but who could the Browns be targeting with this pick?

We are knocking on the door of the NFL Draft and while the rumors surrounding the Cleveland Browns are heating up, it's time to take a look at how the Browns might use their early picks.

The 1st overall pick looks to be an all but done deal with DE Myles Garrett being the pick for the Cleveland Browns.

The 12th overall pick looks to be a wildcard for the Browns with several different prospects being in the mix. The Browns could use the best player available strategy with that pick but could also trade up for a specific player.

While the 12th overall pick is an important one for the Browns, let's focus on the possibilities the Browns could have with 33rd overall selection.

The first possibility that the Cleveland Browns could use is packaging the 33rd overall selection along with other picks to move back into the first round to take a specific player. A lot of recent mock drafts have the Browns trading back into the first round in front of quarterback-needy teams such as Houston or Kansas City to take a quarterback.

For now, let's examine some of the Browns options if they choose to stay at 33.

My obvious choice for the Browns with the 33rd overall selection is that they use the selection on a safety such as Bubba Baker, Obi Melifonwu, Jabrill Peppers, Josh Jones or Chidobe Awuzie.

The Cleveland Browns are in need of a safety and, unless Malik Hooker or Jamal Adams fall to them at 12, then it's highly likely they will use this pick on a safety.

Now there is always the draft day faller that can be had in the second round (Myles Jack last season) and this is where the Browns could take advantage of it. WR Corey Davis, WR John Ross, RB Dalvin Cook, RB Joe Mixon, TE David Njoku, QB DeShone Kizer, CB Kevin King, DT Malik McDowell, CB Gareon Conley, CB Quincy Wilson, and CB Adoree' Jackson are all strong possibilities to be available when the Browns are on the clock Friday night.

For the Browns, having the 33rd pick fits perfectly between picks 12 and 52. The pick gives the team a ton of options in a very good draft, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

How would you like to see the Browns use the 33rd pick?
