Andrew Gikas: Coaches liked his footwork

Offensive tackle Andrew Gikas of Lahser High School (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) signed his certificate of intent for the Air Force Academy. Look inside for photos and quotes from Gikas.

"I started being recruited by Coach Moreland in early September," said Weaver. "I decided to commit on December 13th. It presents me with a great opportunity to play Division I football and be able to serve my country. The experience will help me to become a man, improve my leadership skills, and be a part of something greater than myself. I plan on it being the best four years of my life.

"I was recruited to play offensive line because of my quickness and mobility. They also told me they liked my foot work."

Gikas, 6-foot-4, 245-pounds, was named first team All-Oakland-Blue League as a sophomore, junior and senior. He was named All-Oakland County as a junior and senior. In his senior season, he earned an All-State honorable mention. He also lettered in basketball for the Knights. He start out next season at the U.S. Air Force Academy-Prep School.
