Four Tide Frosh On SEC Honor Squad

Four Alabama football players who earned starting jobs as freshmen have been selected to the All-Freshmen Southeastern Conference team as selected by the league coaches.

The four Alabama players selected to the team included one on offense, two on defense, and one specialist. One Bama honoree is a redshirt freshman and one is a walk-on.

On offense, the coaches picked Crimson Tide redshirt freshman right tackle D.J. Fluker, a 6-6, 330-pound Foley native.

The defensive squad included linebacker C.J. Mosley, 6-2, 225, of Theodore, and cornerback Demarcus Milliner, 6-1, 182, of Millbrook.

Walk-on Cody Mandell of Lafayette, Louisiana, was selected as the punter on the all-freshman team.

Eleven teams (all but Ole Miss) had representatives on the team.

Florida led the way with five selections, while Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee had four each and Georgia, LSU, and Vanderbilt three each.

South Carolina tailback Marcus Lattimore was SEC Freshman of the Year.
