Why Alabama: "The atmosphere, the academic program they have, and I have a great chance to come in and play early. That played a big part. I was real big on Florida and Miami. I kinda was a Florida fan coming up. It was a great place to play at and not too far from home. Sean Taylor is my favorite player, and that is why I wanted to go to Miami. But I was looking for a place I can call home, and that's Bama.
"I like the coaching staff a lot. It's a great environment there. I just felt at home. I am excited about getting there. I will have a great chance to play early."
Strength/Improvements: "I feel like I am good leader. I am a headhunter out on the field. I just want to continue to be a great leader."
Coach Quotes (Offensive coordinator Kevin Booker): "Ha'Sean came in and was an immediate game changer for us from the start. He's someone who can play every position, outside linebacker, cornerback, safety on defense and wide receiver or running back on offense, not to mention special teams where he can returns punts or kicks. It's great to have someone with that kind of versatility.
"He made an impact right away in our secondary. Most schools were looking at him as a safety as he hasn't been anything short of outstanding there, but he can be a cover guy too. As the year progressed it was evident he was our best defender.
"The thing that stands out to me the most in Ha'Sean's game is his fire and competitiveness. He has such a burning desire to be the best he can be. He has all the talent in the world to do that. Naturally he's fast.
"I think he could easily put on 10-15 more pounds and play inside linebacker. But he's 6-2, long, rangy, has great hands. We use him at a strong safety and as more of a true free safety, then sometimes have him play corner. This year (2010 season) I think he'll be seeing more time at wide receiver a lot more and have him run some jet sweeps for us.
"Ha'Sean's not just a great football player, he's a great kid. On the team he shows excellent leadership. He speaks his mind. In the classroom he's really made huge strides. Last time around he had five As and two Bs. He was always a good student, but now he's turned it up to a new level."
Scout.com says: Clinton-Dix can do it all at safety, and he could probably be a big cornerback on the next level as well. He really explodes out of his breaks and closes on the ball extremely well. He is physical, he has instincts, and he has great size as well. As good as he is in coverage, he is just as good in run support. He can still improve his drops and his overall footwork, but he is elite, and he should be very successful on the next level.
