Alabama Swim Teams At SEC Championships
"I think we're solid throughout the course of the meet," Alabama Coach Eric McIlquham said. "We have some individuals that will be fighting for titles and some relays that will fighting for a top-three finishes, which should be good for a spot at the NCAA Championships. The bottom line is that we have to take care of what we can take care of, compete as hard as we can, and get as many people as we can to the NCAA Championships."
The championships start off with three days of diving, beginning with the men's 1-meter and women's 3-meter on Friday.
"Diving has always been one of our strengths," McIlquham said. "I'm confident that they'll get us off to a strong start."
Senior Adam Booher finaled in all three events last season, including a runner-up finish off the 1-meter board. This season Booher again ranks among the conference's top five off both the 1 and 3-meter boards. Freshman Jake Carloni comes into the championship ranked in the conference top 20 off the 3-meter board and the platform.
On the women's side of the slate, senior Olivia Covey scored off the 1 and 3-meter boards last season. She will be joined by rookies Callan Buck and Paige McCleary, who are both ranked in the league's top 20 off the 1 and 3-meter board.
On Saturday, the women go off the 1-meter and the men will compete off the 3-meter and on Sunday, diving concludes with the men and women going off the platform. Swimming events get underway Wednesday, Feb. 16 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 19.
