Alabama Gymnast Gets SEC Honor

Junior Geralen Stack-Eaton was named the Southeastern Conference Gymnast of the Week after winning four events and tying the highest all-around score in the nation this year the league office announced Tuesday.

Alabama Coach Sarah Patterson said, "Geralen had the best meet of her career against Kentucky. She was absolutely on fire and I couldn't be prouder of the way she is performing right now and the way her spirit lifts this team up."

Stack-Eaton posted a career-high 39.675 all-around total against Kentucky, boosting Alabama's team score to a 197.275, the highest in the nation last week, and the fifth highest this season. In addition to winning the all-around, she took top honors on the uneven bars and balance beam, with career-high 9.925s on both, and the floor exercise, where she earned a career-high 9.95.

This marks the second time Stack-Eaton has been named the conference gymnast of the week. She also earned the honor after last year's regular-season meet against Florida. It was the Tide's fourth weekly conference honor, with Stack-Eaton joining senior Kayla Hoffman who has twice been named the SEC Gymnast of the Week this season, and Diandra Milliner, who was named the SEC Freshman of the Week after the Tide's meet against Auburn.

After two weeks at home, Stack-Eaton and company return to the road this Friday, taking on Georgia in Stegeman Coliseum starting at 7:30 p.m. EST.
