Tide Hosts LSU In Season Finale

The number two ranked Alabama gymnastics team closes out its regular-season Friday against Southeastern Conference rival and 22 ranked LSU in Coleman Coliseum starting at 7:30 p.m. CST.

"LSU has always competed well against us and heading into the championship season, they'll also be looking for another great road score," Alabama Coach Sarah Patterson said. "There are no easy nights in the SEC and I know Friday will be another great competition."

Alabama and LSU last met earlier this season at the Metroplex Challenge where the Crimson Tide came out on top with a 196.875 while the Tigers finished third with a 195.550, just a fraction behind Nebraska. The last time the two teams met in Tuscaloosa, LSU notched a 196.625-195.750 win in 2009.

Friday's meet will also be Senior Night, during which Alabama will honor Scholastic All-American Alyssa Chapman, All-American and Scholastic All-American Kayla Hoffman and Scholastic All-American Megan Mashburn as they compete in their last regular-season meet in Coleman Coliseum.

"Alyssa is the first fifth-year senior we've ever had, and while she's been slowed by her ankle here lately, her contributions to our program have been tremendous," Patterson said. "Megan is one of the hardest working athletes we've ever had and then to see the success that Kayla has had this season has been exciting."

Alabama closes out the regular season at home after spending the last two weeks on the road, posting two of the nation's highest road marks, a season-high 197.675 at Georgia and a 197.075 last weekend at Michigan. The Tide's score in Athens is the second highest in the nation this season, just .05 behind Florida's 197.725 from February.

The Tide is in the midst of a month-long hot streak that includes four 197-plus scores. Alabama is one of only two teams to post four 197 scores this season and UA is the only team in the nation to put up four 197-plus scores in a row.

The meet will be broadcast, on a taped delay basis, by ESPNU with Bart Conner, Kathy Johnson Clark and Suzanne Yoculan calling the action.

In addition to the usual array of prizes and giveaways up for grabs during Alabama meets, the Crimson Tide Rewards Program presented by Tuscaloosa Toyota is offering double points for Friday's meet. Members of the program are eligible for prizes after just 10 points and those who earn 50+ points will be entered into a drawing to win a 2011 Toyota Camry. Those that haven't already joined can sign up at the meet.

Fans can also take advantage of the Family Fun Packs through the Alabama Ticket Office which allows fans to purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks for $30. Tickets are available online at RollTide.com and through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262), located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum.
