Tide's Women's Golf Has Poor Start
Alabama shot 13-over-par 301 and is tied with seventh-ranked Virginia. Wake Forest holds the opening-round lead at 6-over 294 with Texas A&M in second at 10-over 298. No. 5 LSU and No. 4 Duke are tied for third at 12-over-par 300.
True freshman Stephanie Meadow continued her impressive play with a 1-over-par 73 that paced Alabama on day one. She is tied for seventh place, two shots off the lead of North Carolina's Catherine O'Donnell, Wake Forest's Natalie Sheary and Duke's Lindy Duncan.
A trio of Tide players, Brooke Pancake, Jennifer Kirby and Courtney Harter, carded 4-over-par 76s to count towards UA's opening-round score. All three are tied for 29th position, five strokes off the lead.
Senior Camilla Lennarth shot 5-over 77 and is tied for 41st entering Saturday's second round. The Crimson Tide will play with Duke and Virginia in Saturday's second round from the University Club.
