Bama's Dunne SEC Pitcher Of Week
Dunne continues to baffle opposing hitters and this past weekend was no different. In her two outings she only allowed a total of two hits to earn two wins. Dunne tossed 12 innings and posted a perfect 0.00 ERA while striking out 21 and holding the opposition to just a .053 batting average.
The Alabama senior now sits at 999 career strikeouts as she is just one shy of becoming the third member of the Crimson Tide to reach the coveted 1,000 strikeout mark. In her first game of the weekend Dunne fanned 13 and allowed just one hit against North Carolina on Friday and then allowed one hit and struck out eight in five innings against Florida State on Saturday.
On the season Dunne has been nearly unhittable as she leads the conference in ERA (0.42), opposing batting average (.090) and strikeouts (111). The senior has only allowed 20 hits and four earned runs in 67 1/3 innings pitched.
Dunne and the rest of the Crimson Tide will return to Rhoads Stadium for the SEC opener. Alabama will host rival Auburn in a midweek doubleheader. The two teams will square off on Wednesday with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. CDT. Both games will be televised on CSS.
