Alabama Linebacker Lost For Spring
"Alex Watkins injured his knee Wednesday and had successful surgery yesterday," said Alabama Coach Nick Saban. "He will be out for the rest of spring practice, but we expect a full recovery for fall camp."
Watkins is a 6-3, 234-pound senior from Heywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee. He played in 12 games last year and had 16 tackles and was in on three sacks for 22 yards in losses. He had his best game in the Capital One Bowl, making four tackles including a sack of Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins that knocked the Spartans quarterback out of the game.
The Crimson Tide held the seventh practice of the spring Friday afternoon and scrimmage for the first time Saturday in Bryant-Denny Stadium. The scrimmage is closed to the public.
