Award Winners For Tide Spring Football

Two players were recognized for their outings in the A-Day Game. Offensive tackle Barrett Jones was voted by the media the winner of the Dwight Stephenson Most Valuable Lineman of the A-Day Game Award. Running back Trent Richardson earned the Dixie Howell Memorial Award as Most Valuable Player of the A-Day Game.

Trent Richardson accounted for 167 all-purpose yards as he caught a game-high 7 receptions for 85 yards and 1 touchdown and rushed for 49 yards on 9 carries, in addition to returning 2 kickoffs for 33 total yards.

Barrett Jones, a two-year starter at right guard, made the move to left tackle in the final week of spring practice and performer at the left tackle spot for the Crimson team that amassed 338 yards of offense Saturday.

For nearly 40 years, Alabama coaches have voted on winners of awards for players who have notable accomplishments in the spring. While the Dixie Howell and Dwight Stephenson awards are selected by the media for A-Day performance, the other awards encompass the entire spring.

Ray Perkins Receiver Award – Darius Hanks, Marquise Maze

Woodrow Lowe Linebacker Award – C.J. Mosley

Derrick Thomas Community Service Award – Nico Johnson, Tana Patrick

Bear Bryant Outstanding Non-Scholarship Award – Hardie Buck, Will Lowery

Ozzie Newsome Most Improved Freshman Award – Adrian Hubbard, Jarrick Williams, DeAndrew White, Phillip Sims

Bart Starr Most Improved Player Award – A.J. McCarron, Anthony Steen, Jerrell Harris, Dre Kirkpatrick

Mal Moore Leadership Award – Barrett Jones, Mark Barron

Sylvester Croom Commitment to Excellence Award – Trent Richardson, Courtney Upshaw
