Tide Softball Loses Game, Series
After the loss, Alabama falls to 42-7 overall and 16-6 in SEC play.
It was Kelsey Bruder once again for Florida, this time with an infield single off the glove of freshman Jackie Traina with the bases loaded to plate Cheyenne Coyle from third.
Traina (16-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing one run on three hits in one inning of relief. Senior Kelsi Dunne allowed two runs on two hits and struck out 10 in 7 2/3 innings pitched.
Hannah Rogers went the distance for the Gators, improving to 25-5 on the season. The freshman struck out 10 and allowed three hits and no earned runs in the nine-inning effort.
Small ball and a crucial error by Aja Paculba led to the first runs of the day, coming with two outs in the eighth inning. After sophomore Kayla Braud and junior Jazlyn Lunceford reached on infield hits and senior Whitney Larsen bunted them over, freshman Traina hit it through the legs of Paculba to bring in two runs.
The Gators came back to even the score at two in the bottom half. A bloop single to right by Bruder scored pinch-runner Ensley Gammel and then Brittany Schutte was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the tying run.
Alabama will play its final non-conference game of the regular season as it welcomes instate foe UAB. The Tide and Blazers will clash for the second time this season as they will meet on Wednesday with first pitch slated for 6 p.m. at Rhoads Stadium.
