Darren Lake talks Alabama camp, offers

Darren Lake is an emerging defensive tackle from York-Sumpter County, Ala. Lake has been an under the radar recruit who has attended two SEC camps this summer and walked away with offers from each one. Andrew Bone has the latest news...

"I received an offer from Alabama," said Darren Lake. "I talked to Nick Saban in his office before I left camp. He brought me in his office. He told me he likes my explosiveness. He said I need to work on my hands and stuff like that.

"I was really excited about the offer. I had a big smile on my face. Alabama is my favorite school. They have always been my favorite school. I like the coaches and how they push players to reach their goals. They want to make them a better person and player."

The 6-foot-3. 328-pound lineman talked about working with Alabama defensive line coach Chris Rumph.

"The camp was real nice," Lake said. "They were working real hard up there. They showed you how players are supposed to be when you come up there. I worked with coach Rumph. He taught me different techniques. You have to use quickness. I love coaching Rumph. He is a great coach."

Lake recently landed an offer from the University of Tennessee.

"I went to Tennessee's camp, and they offered me," said Lake. "The camp was really good. I think Tennessee is a good school. The coaches push the players really hard. They make you work hard up there."
