Baseball Honors For Taylor Dugas

University of Alabama centerfielder Taylor Dugas was selected as a Division I Gold Glove outfielder as announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Wednesday. In addition to his gold glove award, Dugas was an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-South Region honoree.

En route to his selection as an ABCA/Rawlings Division I Gold Glove outfielder, Dugas posted a .989 fielding percentage during his junior season. He made just two errors in 175 chances while posting two outfield assists. Dugas was the starting centerfielder for the Crimson Tide in all 63 games in 2011.

Dugas, an eighth round selection by the Chicago Cubs in the 2011 MLB Draft, was selected as a First Team ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region First Team selection.

He led Alabama in eight of 10 offensive categories, including: batting average (.349), slugging percentage (.564), on-base percentage (.455), runs (60), hits (84), triples (4), home runs (8) and walks (41). The Alabama leadoff hitter most of the season, Dugas was a Baseball America First Team All-American in 2010.

The 298 Division I baseball teams are divided into eight regions. The coaches nominated their players for recognition and voted to select a first and second team All-South Region team. All first team selections from all eighth regions were then combined and coaches picked All-America teams.
