Bone's Best: C.J. Perry

Andrew Bone takes a closer look at the Top 60 players in the state of Alabama prior to the 2011 season.

40. C.J. Perry
Outside Linebacker
6-foot-2.5, 215-pounds
Bessemer Academy (Bessemer)

2010 stats: Perry had 37 catches for 609 yards and five touchdowns. He also carried the ball nine times for 141 yards and three scores. He totaled 70 total tackles, 11 for loss, seven sacks, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and blocked a punt.

Recruitment: Perry committed to Southern Miss with other scholarship offers coming from Arkansas State, Cincinnati, South Alabama and Vanderbilt.

Perry explained his commitment, "They (USM) recruited me as either a hybrid defensive end/linebacker or play inside linebacker. I love defense. Defense hasn't always been my main thing, but I have grown to love it more than offense. That's a good thing. I like flying around hitting people and sacking the quarterback."
