Trae Elston ready for Tide's camp

Trae Elston, three-star cornerback from Oxford, Ala., returned home this week after competiting in 'The Opening' in Oregon. Elston talked about his experience and camping this coming weekend in Tuscaloosa.

"The Opening went really good," said Trae Elston. "There were a lot of great athletes out there. I ran a 4.41-40. I have improved my speed.

"Overall it was a great experience. It didn't get too hot or cold. The 7-on-7 part was exciting. It was very fun. The competition was incredible.

"I felt like I did good. I didn't let anyone get by me. I played corner and safety while I was there. I tried to improve my footwork. Our team won the championship."

Elston roomed with SPARQ champion Landon Collins.

"He was real cool," Elston said. "He is a great athlete. He was cool to talk to and everything. It was good to hang out with him. He won the SPARQ championship. He can jump really high, but he isn't faster than me."

Elston travels to Tuscaloosa this weekend and plans to work on the offensive side of the ball at the Tide's camp.

"I am heading to the Bama camp on Sunday," said Elston. "I am going to work out at receiver. I may work out on defense, but I am mainly going up there for offense. I am looking forward to going up there and competing."
