Men's Tennis in the NCAAs

Alabama will play Marist College in the first round of NCAA Championships. Not surprisingly, the two schools have never met in men's tennis. As for the other two schools in the region, however, Alabama is 2-1 All-time against Harvard and 0-2 versus Virginia Commonwealth.

Region Sees Red - Teams Participating

The Alabama Crimson Tide, Harvard Crimson, Marist Red Foxes (the animal, not Fred from Sanford & Son), and the VCU Rams will gather in the regional held in Cambridge, Mass. Alabama plays Marist in the first round.

Looking for a Win this Time

Alabama was bounced in the first round the past two years to lower seeded opponents, losing a 4-3 match to Middle Tennessee (in Oxford, Miss.) last season and 4-1 to Minnesota (in Miami, Fla.) in 2001. Alabama's last NCAA tourney win was in 1999 under Steinberg when the Tide beat Hampton 4-1 in the first round before losing to Virginia Tech, 4-3 in the second round in Blacksburg, Va.
