Bama Goalkeeper On Watch List
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. The recipients are selected by head coaches of NCAA Division I programs who are members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
Bernier, a NSCAA/Performance Subaru All-South Region first-team selection last season, earns the honor on the heels of a 2010 campaign in which she garnered Southeastern Conference first-team accolades.
Bernier broke the Alabama all-time shutout and save record by totaling five clean sheets and 77 saves despite missing four matches due to international duty with Team Canada in 2010.
She sported a 1.09 goals against average and an .828 save percentage last season and during conference play she tallied three shutouts and made 63 stops.
Entering her senior season, the net-minder has tallied 338 career saves, 14 shutouts and sports a 1.36 goals against average.
Voting for the MAC Hermann Trophy is conducted in late November, when a field of 15 semifinalists is reduced to three finalists. Those three will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, where a news conference will be held to announce the winner, followed by a banquet to honor the three finalists.
