Kick-off Thursday: O.J. Howard

O.J. Howard, tight end from Prattville-Autauga Academy, Ala., kicks off his junior season Thursday night. The athlete committed to the University of Alabama in July and solid with his decision. Howard talked with Andrew Bone about his season and more....

"Everything is going good," said O.J. Howard. "We have our first game against Prattville Christian Academy. We are getting ready for game time. We are making sure everyone is ready.

"They have me playing defensive end and wide receiver. I am also playing a little bit of quarterback. I feel like I have improved my route running skills and blocking down field."

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound athlete plans to visit Tuscaloosa in the near future.

"I plan on going to the first game on September 3rd," Howard said. "I think we will have a real good team. The only question mark is at quarterback. I feel like Alabama can't go wrong with either one of those guys. The defense is the main thing I want to see. They have 10 guys returning. I am ready to see those guys play."

Howard has been staying in contact with Alabama since his announcement.

"I was supposed to go down to a practice a few weeks ago, but couldn't make it," Howard said. "I have been keeping in touch with Jody Wright. He is making sure everything is going good with me. He hopes we have a great season. He is looking forward to seeing me in Tuscaloosa."
